What is a Schubertiade?
During Schubert's lifetime, it was an intimate gathering of friends in a private home which featured Schubert's music, poetry readings, dance and other sociable pastimes.

Today, Worcester Schubertiade is Intimate Classical
Our mission is to present accessible live performances of vocal and instrumental classical music in an intimate setting; and cultivate the next generation through outreach and education.
Our Beginning
Worcester Schubertiade was founded in 2012 by tenor Stanley Wilson and pianist Malcolm Halliday. As we embark into our seventh season, we continue to build and grow our performance season as well as our educational programs.

“Art is not a privilege. It is the soul of our civilization; the beating heart of our society... During these perilous and challenging times - we need the arts and humanities more than ever before.”

Executive Director Stanley Wilson has been with Worcester Schubertiade since its inception in the summer of 2012. With a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the Longy School of Music and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration at Boston University Metropolitan College, he enjoys his time running this performing arts non-profit. He is strongly committed to building an organization that will contribute to community vitality and a collective efficacy in our region by building resiliency, fostering social capital and strengthening interpersonal ties.

Artistic Director Sondra Kelly, a Metropolitan Opera Artist, joined Worcester Schubertiade's artistic team during the summer of 2016. Ms. Kelly is well know for her love of and support of the arts in the New England Region. She is also the Principal Stage Director of Opera Connecticut and has a young artist program in Boston, New England Opera Intensive, for which she is the Artistic Director. Her recordings include Sony Classical, Deutsche Grammaphon and Koch Schwann and her DVD’s are all “Live from the Met”.
